Good morning Parent(s)/Guardian(s):
Monday, August 17th, starts a new school year. Although this year will be different from most, my passion and excitement as an educator has not. I am looking forward to a wonderful year of learning and experiencing new things.
Please remember we will be beginning with a hydrid model where some students will come on Monday and Wednesday, some on Tuesday and Thursday and the rest virtually from home. Fridays will be virtual learning.
Thank you for your patience as we all navigate through these uncertain times...TOGETHER!

Mrs. Valarie Cleveland-Tyson
My name is Valarie Cleveland-Tyson, and this is my third year as a first grade teacher at E.P.Todd. I taught 3rd and 5th grades at Houston prior to coming to E.P. Todd. Interesting fact, before becoming an educator, I worked in the federal government, non-profit and corporate arenas. Out of all of my previous professions, teaching has been the most fulfilling career I have ever had. I thoroghly enjoy seeing students learn and grow, and it is my life's purpose to see them reach their fullest potential.
I was born in Spartanburg and attending schools in Spartanburg District Seven, including E.P. Todd. I received my undergraduate degree in Mass Media Arts from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. I later received my Masters of Art in Teaching from Converse College, and my Plus 30 in education. I am certified in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education, and I have my Gifted and Talented endorsement. In 2014, I received the distinguished honor of being selected as Teacher of the Year for Houston Elementary School.
I am married and my husband and I have with two beautiful daughters. My hobbies include reading, dancing, smiling and spending time with my girls.
As a lifelong learner, I am constantly taking classes and attending professional development opportunites to be the best educator I can be to ensure I am providing the best educational opportunity for your child.
