  • passing of Kenneth Meyers

It is with great sadness that District 7 shares the passing of Dr. Kenneth Myers, Sr., a member of our Board of Trustees since 2019, on Sunday, February 5.

“Kenneth Myers had a strong conviction for education,” said Board Chair Sharon Porter. “Since joining the District 7 Board of Trustees, he has worked tirelessly to support the success and well-being of our students, staff and families. He believed in the quote by former President Obama, ‘It is not enough to leave no child behind. We need to help every child get ahead.’ Each member of our Board joins me in expressing our deepest sympathy to the Myers family and our appreciation for Kenneth’s contributions. His commitment to education and our community will truly be missed.”

Superintendent Jeff Stevens also reflected on Dr. Myers’ dedication to District 7, noting, “Kenneth Myers served with a passionate heart, first and foremost for our children. I will always remember the spirited conversations we had and appreciate his genuine desire to help all District 7 students. The commitment and impact of each Trustee is vital to the success of this district, and our administration and staff are immensely thankful for the thoughtful leadership Dr. Myers provided. His presence was always felt and he always made an impact. We are holding his family and friends close during this difficult time.”
