District 7-1 Board Vacancy to be Filled During Special Called Meeting March 29

  • The District Seven Board of Trustees is seeking to fill a vacancy on our nine-member board following the passing of Kenneth Myers, who served district 7-1. The Board of Trustees provides vision and leadership, while overseeing policy and financial decisions, and monitoring the operations of our school district.

State law requires current school boards in Spartanburg County to appoint a successor to fill unexpired board vacancies that may occur. The vacancy applies ONLY to District 7-1 for the current term, which will expire in November 2023. A map of the 7-1 area can be found on our District website here. Copies of this map are also available at the reception desk of our District Office. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, registered to vote, and reside in the 7-1 board district. District 7 will verify the eligibility of all applicants with Spartanburg County Voter Registration and Elections.

If the trustee appointed to this seat wishes to serve beyond November 2023, they will be required to file for re-election by July 17, 2023.

The application deadline of March 20 has now passed. All eligible applicants will be reviewed by our current Board of Trustees. Each will be given an opportunity to address the board in a public forum at a special called meeting on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. After hearing from eligible applicants, the Board of Trustees will vote to fill the vacancy.
