• National and state standards are embedded within the PYP curriculum. In teaching the content, teachers strive to make connections between a learners’ existing knowledge and new knowledge. Students are provided opportunities to build meaning and refine their understanding through structured inquiry. Students and teachers work together to plan and assess the curriculum. This type of agency, between the student and teacher, helps the students move from their current level of understanding to a new and deeper level of understanding throughout the transdisciplinary units of study.
