    Dr. Carlotta D. Redish serves as the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for Spartanburg School District Seven. She led District Seven’s human resources division from 2013-2019 and was tapped to lead the new Office of Diversity & Inclusion, district Social Workers, Student Support Specialist, and Title IX in 2019. A veteran educator with over twenty-plus years of district office experience leading public schools, Dr. Redish brings a valuable perspective to this role through her past leadership with the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Atlanta Public School System. A native of the Upstate, Dr. Redish utilizes her ability to work with a diverse representation of community leaders, which is critical to engaging community partnerships. Before assuming leadership roles in District Seven, Dr. Redish served as Interim Superintendent, Associate Superintendent of Administrative Services and Instruction, Director of Personnel, and Principal for Cherokee County Schools.  Prior to her arrival back to South Carolina, she served as Dean of Students, Secondary Literacy Specialist, and Assistant Principal for the Los Angeles Unified School District.

    Dr. Redish serves on various boards which support the citizens of Spartanburg County.  She is an Executive Board Member for the Chapman Cultural Center, the Spartanburg County Indicators Project (SCIP), a member of the Spartanburg Downtown Rotary Club, and a Board of Trustees member for Piedmont Community Actions. Previously, she was unanimously voted to serve as a Board of Trustee Member for South Carolina State University by the South Carolina General Assembly.  Dr. Redish received her Bachelor Degree in Political Science, Master’s Degree in Secondary Education, and Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Leadership from the University of South Carolina - Columbia. She is a proud member of the Spartanburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  Among her various awards, Dr. Redish is the 2012 Cherokee County NAACP Hall of Fame recipient, a Certified Diversity Professional, and Certified Mediator thru the Justice Center of Atlanta, Dr. Redish is a graduate of Leadership Spartanburg and The Riley Diversity Leader’s Institute at Furman University.
