A Message from Ms. Thompson
“When you do the common things in life in an uncommon way, you will command the attention of the world.” - George Washington Carver
Carver Middle School is on the move and making great things happen! If you’ve been following our success, you know we’re well on our way to commanding the attention of the world or, at the very least, the Upstate of South Carolina!
Indeed, Dr. George Washington Carver would be immensely proud of the school that bears his name and the many accomplishments that signal our commitment to inspiring and equipping students for success in a competitive global society.
Carver is definitely on the map - as an AVID school (Advancement Via Individual Determination) we were recognized as a National Demonstration School, meaning that educators from across the country, who are interested in maximizing the AVID curriculum, will be pointed to Carver Middle School in Spartanburg, South Carolina! To put that in perspective, we’re one of only 150 AVID schools in the nation to be selected as a National Demonstration School. Proving that our educators have set the bar high, Carver has also been named the first school in the nation to be a model school for its Professional Learning Communities, or PLC’s. This unparalleled honor underscores the dedication among our teachers to consistently hone their skills through professional development. While I’m proud to say we have a long and growing list of accomplishments, (and we expect this year to be equally exciting), perhaps the most important thing for you to know is that Carver Middle School is a community of learners, devoted to the incredible children in our care who, we believe, have everything it takes to make our world a better place!
It is a privilege to serve as principal of a school that engages, inspires, and motivates all who enter the doorways. Wildcats it is time to ROAR!
