Mrs. Helen E. Tipton
Mrs. Tipton teaches the Freshman Orchestra at Spartanburg High School in addition to fifth grade strings at Jesse Boyd Elemetary School and Pine Street Elementary School. She also coordinates fifth grade strings curriculum and activities in District 7. Mrs. Tipton is on the Executive Board for the South Carolina Music Educators Association acting as the Concert Performance Chair, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra as the chair of the Education Committee. Most recently Mrs. Tipton's committee founded the Spartanburg Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and Junior Youth Orchestra, serving students in Spartanburg County and beyond. She's a guest conductor for county and region events and also an adjudicator for SCMEA throughout the state of South Carolina.
Mrs. Tipton grew up in Ohio and graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Music Education. She comes from a family of music educators and orchestral musicians, and is proud that her three children have also carried the musical torch playing in the District 7 orchestras.
