Sharing the Planet
Our official first unit of the year will focus on building relationships. We will begin with our classroom community, or OHANA, and then bring other scientific and historic communities into our learning as well. In science, we will focus on organisms; math will begin with our place value unit and QUICKLY move onto multiplication and division; early colonies will be a focus in social studies; and getting to know ourselves and each other as readers and writers will be the bulk of our first ELA unit. Of course, we'll throw in lots of GREAT read-alouds, chapter books, and magazines to help us grow.
Central Idea: The relationships within communities are understood by making connections.
Who We Are
This unit will be a year-long reflection on our growth as IB learners. We will set goals and use self-assessments to track our progress throughout the year.
Central Idea: Growth is a result of reflection and self-assessment.
