Mrs. Karen McCarter-Smith

Hello, I am Karen McCarter-Smith, I am A 6th  Grade ELA teacher at Carver Middle School. I have a BA degree in Early Childhood Education and a BA in Elementary Education from Converse College.  I have a  Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Converse College, with endorsements in Read To Succeed and Gifted and Talented.  I have been teaching in District 7 for 29 years, 12 of them at Carver. I was Teacher of the Year at Chapman Elementary in the 2009-2010 school year and at Carver  Middle School in the 2013-2014 school year. My certification is K- 6th. Over the course of my teaching career,  I have taught all grades K- 6, 6th grade for 24 years.   My passion is reading and I love helping students find a passion for it as well.
