• Good evening everyone:

I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break. I just wanted to touch bases to make sure everyone is doing okay and to make sure everyone received the email and phone call from Beth Lancaster about lesson plans for April 7th through April 17th. Please respond to this message or email me to let me know you have received this message.

I will be updating my web page with additional activities and websites to assist you in the upcoming weeks. Please know I am here to help, so please let me know if you need me. Take care and please hug my little one. I miss everyone.

    Mrs. Tyson

Mrs. Valarie Cleveland-Tyson

My name is Valarie Cleveland-Tyson, and this is my second year as a first grade teacher at E.P.Todd. Prior to coming to Todd, I taught third and fifth grades at Houston Elementary before coming to E.P. Todd. Before becoming an educator, I worked in the federal government, non-profit and corporate arenas. However, teaching has been the most fulling career I have ever had. I am a firm believer that education is the most important part of every person's life.

I was born in Spartanburg and attending schools in Spartanburg District Seven. I received my undergraduate degree in Mass Media Arts from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. I later received my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Converse College, and recently received my Plus 30. I am certified in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education, and I have my Gifted and Talented endorsement. In 2014, I received the distinguished honor of being selected as Teacher of the Year for Houston Elementary School.

I am married and my husband and I have with two beautiful daughters. My hobbies include reading, dancing, smiling and shopping with my children.

As a lifelong learner, I am constantly taking classes and attending professional development opportunites to be the best educator I can be to ensure I am providing the best educational opportunity for your child.
