Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Christie Summers
Welcome to FUNtastic Firsties! My name is Christie Summers, and I am excited for a new year at E.P. Todd! While this year is my second year at Todd, it begins my twenty-third year of teaching. I taught kindergarten for fourteen years and this will be my ninth year in first grade. I grew up in Union, S.C. and attended elementary through high school there. I graduated from Limestone College, where I received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education/Early Childhood. My Master's Degree is in Integrating the Arts Into the Classroom from Lesley University. I hold National Board certification in Literacy for the Young Child.
I have been married for fourteen years. My husband's name is Todd Summers. He is a Sports Anchor/Reporter for WSPA TV. Our two boys, Jackson, age eleven, and Cooper, age nine, keep us very busy! We also have a five year old Pocket Beagle, Sadie Jayne. Our family loves to travel every summer to new places. However, our favorite destination is the beach! I am an avid reader and began my love of reading in the fourth grade. That's when I discovered the Little House on the Prarie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I've been hooked on reading ever since! Reading is my favorite subject to teach. It is my hope to spark a love of reading in all of my students so they can be life long readers and experience the joy that reading brings.
