    Mr. John Mauldin

    Assistant Principal

I am so excited to begin the 2021-2022 school year as one of the assistant principals at The Cleveland Academy of Leadership.  I hope to inspire and equip each student at The Cleveland Academy of Leadership with the qualities it takes to become effective leaders in their school, home, community, and world.  I can assure you that I will always strive to do what is best for our students, and always put them first while igniting their minds for the future.

I received my undergraduate degree from Clemson University in history and education.  I also obtained a Master’s degree from Clemson University in middle-grade education (English Language Arts and Social Studies).  In 2016, I received my educational specialist degree in administration and supervision from Converse College, and currently pursuing a doctorate degree at North Greenville University and plan to graduate in December or 2021.  Needless to say, education is a passion of mine, and feel it is important to be a lifelong learner.

I began my teaching career in Oconee County, S.C., at Walhalla Middle School where I served as a seventh-grade social studies teacher, coached middle school football and baseball.  After marrying my wife, I moved to Polk County, N.C., and began teaching in Spartanburg School District One at Campobello-Gramling School.  While at Campobello Gramling School, I held a variety of roles, including a social studies teacher, reading teacher, performed a variety of administrative tasks, led serve clubs and student organizations, as well as a football and baseball coach for the past seven years.

Family is very important to me, and I believe it is vital that people cherish all of the time they are able to spend together with loved ones.  I have been married to my wife, Meghan, for nine years and she is a guidance counselor at Polk County High School in N.C.  We have a five-year-old son named Clayton and a 6-month-old son named Ladson who keeps us extremely busy.  In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, church activities, reading, running, fishing, learning new things, and traveling.

If at any time, you have any questions and/or concerns please feel free to contact me at JRMauldin@spart7.org. I look forward to a wonderful school year and am extremely excited to be a positive role model and help your child in any way I can!
