MUSIC
Music enriches and delights every child in ways related to his or her stage of development. With the guidance of elementary music specialists, each student discovers the joy and satisfaction of music-making through singing, creating, moving, listening, and performing, thus supplying the foundation for lifelong musical learning and understanding.
BAND & ORCHESTRABand and Orchestra is for 5th grade students only. Students in these grades specialize in one musical instrument. Recruitment for rising 5th graders is held each year in March and April.BULLDOG CHORUS
For students in grades 3-5, our Bulldog Chorus is for students who enjoy singing. The Bulldog Chorus practices almost every Monday during the school year and has 3 big performances each year and smaller performances during the year. These performances include a Veteran's Day, Christmas Concert, and Spring concert.MUSICAL
Each year JBE has a musical production. Students in grades 2nd-5th grade are encouraged to try out for the production in October. Practice is twice a week until the production in March. We also involve our 4K-1st grade students and invite them to do a "pre-show" dance before each performance.
Visual Arts
-
The Jesse Boyd Elementary art curriculum provides students with the experiences to learn how to communicate through art, develop skills in visual problem solving, as well as craftsmanship and technique. Art teaches students to appreciate historical and current purposes for the creation of art and its cultural diversities. Art encourages students to make connections to real-life and other subjects. Art stimulates the development of critical and creative thinking skills. JBE’s art program is led by Ms. Claire Louka.
