Traffic & Safety

  • BUS RIDERS:

Transportation is a service provided to ELC students who meet district transportation guidelines. To assure the safety of children riding the bus, it is important that each parent/care-giver or authorized person comply with the following procedures in addition to the school bus regulations.

    • Children must be dressed and ready when the bus arrives.
    • Parent/Care-giver or authorized person (18 years of age of older) must accompany children to the bus doors when loading or unloading and to help children on and off the bus, if necessary.
    • Only the parent/caregiver or authorized person can get children off the bus.
    • The bus driver or ELC staff member may require photo identification at any time if they have not seen the person before. (unfamiliar faces)

If a parent/caregiver or authorized person is not at the bus stop when the bus arrives, the child will be returned to the ELC. The ELC will call the numbers on the emergency card.  It is then the parent/caregiver’s responsibility to pick the child up from the ELC.  If your child is returned to the ELC, they will not be allowed to ride the bus to and/or from school for a set number of days.   Please remember to have someone on your approved list at the bus stop to receive your child.

Changes for pick up and drop off are to be made via a note to the teacher. If a child misses the bus, it is the parent/caregiver’s responsibility to bring the child to the ELC. The ELC staff cannot pick up and drop off your child.

    CAR RIDERS:

Morning Pickup:  Park your car in a parking space, walk your child to class and sign them in with their teachers before you leave. If you are late the child must be brought to the front office, signed in, and then walked to the classroom and signed in with their teacher. Be sure the teacher sees your child enter the classroom.

Afternoon Pickup: Park your car in a parking space, show picture identification in the front office.   Any individual picking up a student must be listed on the enrollment card or emergency card unless a note has been sent to the teacher. Please pick up your child promptly.  Transportation changes may not be made over the phone, they must be in writing for safety reasons.

    WALKERS:

If you walk your child to the ELC, please walk on the sidewalk and not on the side of the street. Only cross the road at the designated pedestrian crossing.  Please make sure you walk your child to class and sign them in with their teachers before you leave. If you are late the child must be brought to the front office, signed in, and then walked to the classroom and signed in with their teacher. Be sure the teacher sees your child enter the classroom.
