Carver Holds Veteran's Day Celebration
Judge Erika L. Matthews McJimpsey was the keynote speaker at Carver's annual Veteran's Day celebration Nov. 9. McJimpsey was the first African-American female prosecutor for the Seventh Judicial Cicuit Solicitor's Office. She also served in the Army Reserves for more than 10 years.
McJimpsey spoke to Carver students about overcoming fears and pushing on, even when life is tough.
In addition to McJimpsey's message, the celebration included a white tablecloth ceremony to honor fallen heroes, student performances and the presentation of the colors by the Spartanburg High ROTC.
All veterans, including McJimpsey, were invited to a reception following the assembly.
