A New Chapter for Jesse Boyd: Building Legacy, Community, and Opportunity

Gratitude filled the air as District 7 leaders, families, students, teachers, and community members gathered under pale blue skies on the freshly-cleared site of our new Jesse Boyd Elementary on Webber Road. Shovels in hand, leaders joined together not just to turn the dirt, but to fulfill a dream of educational excellence for future generations. November 24, 2025 was a day full of promise as we broke ground on a long-awaited vision: a new Jesse Boyd Elementary School (JBE), which will house the district’s second Little Vikings Employee Childcare Center.

We are pleased to announce District 7’s academic calendar for the 2026–2027 school year, which includes two new breaks – one in the fall and one midwinter – to help students and teachers recharge and maintain steady progress throughout the year. All Spartanburg County school districts collaborated to create this calendar with the aim of sustaining strong engagement, prioritizing student and staff well-being, and supporting student success. The calendar continues to include staff development days that allow for professional learning and collaboration among teachers and staff to strengthen instruction for students.

Hello D7 Families,

A quick reminder that there will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, November 3 (staff exchange day) and Tuesday, November 4 (Election Day). Before the busy week ahead, be sure to “fall back” one hour on Sunday when Daylight Saving Time ends.

Need a FUN AND SAFE PLACE for your child or teen to go on Monday and Tuesday? Our partners at the City of Spartanburg Parks, Recreation & Special Events are offering camps at our community centers! See the attached flyers for info.

Finally, we encourage our entire community to get out and VOTE. To preview your personalized ballot, visit:

Your voice matters—every vote makes a difference, and we can’t wait to see our community at the polls!

This week at JBE, an initiative that is now a decade old, Ladies Lunch and SUIT, began anew for the 25-26 school year. Ladies and gentlemen from grades 3-5 got to enjoy lunch together while learning about being ladies and gentlemen in today's world. We are proud to serve such solid citizens! #oneandonlyjbe

The JBE spirit was on full display today as sister Meryn and Isla donated almost $200 that they raised themselves to the family of one our students who is battling an illness. We are so proud of them as they demonstrated once again that it is not just the building that makes JBE special, it's the people. #oneandonlyjbe

🎒💡 While our students are away… our teachers DON’T PLAY!

Last Friday may have been a day off for our students, but classrooms across D7 were still buzzing with energy and ideas! Our teachers spent the day diving into professional learning — sharpening their skills and exploring new strategies to make learning even more engaging and effective.

From creative new ideas for hands-on science activities 🧪, to learning how to teach stronger writing skills ✏️ , to using AI effectively in education 🤖 — our educators were all in! They also deepened their understanding of our instructional framework, explored helpful apps that support teaching, and strengthened their understanding of how to implement Multi-Tiered Systems of Support to help students struggling with academics or behavior. D7 also welcomed physical education teachers from other districts to learn new research-based curriculum to foster students' wellbeing and physical health.

Every session connected back to our mission "to inspire and equip students for lives of leadership and service". 💙💛 Because when teachers grow, students shine! ✨
