District 7 schools and offices are closed today in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. As we pause to serve in our community and connect with one another by making this a "day on" rather than just a day off, we are heartened by Dr. King's wise reminder that "Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education."

A New Chapter for Jesse Boyd: Building Legacy, Community, and Opportunity
Gratitude filled the air as District 7 leaders, families, students, teachers, and community members gathered under pale blue skies on the freshly-cleared site of our new Jesse Boyd Elementary on Webber Road. Shovels in hand, leaders joined together not just to turn the dirt, but to fulfill a dream of educational excellence for future generations. November 24, 2025 was a day full of promise as we broke ground on a long-awaited vision: a new Jesse Boyd Elementary School (JBE), which will house the district’s second Little Vikings Employee Childcare Center.

We are pleased to announce District 7’s academic calendar for the 2026–2027 school year, which includes two new breaks – one in the fall and one midwinter – to help students and teachers recharge and maintain steady progress throughout the year. All Spartanburg County school districts collaborated to create this calendar with the aim of sustaining strong engagement, prioritizing student and staff well-being, and supporting student success. The calendar continues to include staff development days that allow for professional learning and collaboration among teachers and staff to strengthen instruction for students.

We are so proud of our Special Olympians who went bowling today! Congrats to students from Mrs. Helms', Mrs. Shaw's, Mrs. Little's, Ms. Johnson's, and Mrs. Neely's classes! (Mrs. Helms' class is repping their ribbons here.) #oneandonlyjbe

This week at JBE, an initiative that is now a decade old, Ladies Lunch and SUIT, began anew for the 25-26 school year. Ladies and gentlemen from grades 3-5 got to enjoy lunch together while learning about being ladies and gentlemen in today's world. We are proud to serve such solid citizens! #oneandonlyjbe
