On Thursday, September 18th, SHS launched its first Books & Bites fundraiser in support of the Media Center. For 4.99 ¾—a playful nod to the Harry Potter train platform—students and staff could purchase a package that included two donuts, an edible wafer, and a Harry Potter bookmark!

The theme was inspired by a Krispy Kreme promotion featuring Harry Potter–themed donuts. Although the themed donuts sold out before the event, SHS Library Ambassadors improvised and created their own magical spin!

The fundraiser was more than just a sweet treat, it was an opportunity for students to step into leadership roles. Students pushed beyond their comfort zones to market and sell the items. Seniors especially stood out during fourth lunch, taking charge and helping sell out the event’s stock.

As the first event of its kind, Books & Bites proved to be a success and a learning experience. Organizers are already looking at ways to make the next one even better, with plans to increase value for students while keeping the price affordable. In the past, the Media Center raised funds through Valentine’s Day bundles that paired t-shirts with surprise books, but this new format brings a fresh, accessible approach to fundraising.
