This fall, Career Specialist Addie Jones has been busy creating real-world opportunities for Spartanburg High School students who plan to enter the workforce after graduation. Through partnerships with local industries, colleges, and community organizations, students have gained valuable hands-on experience and career insight that will help guide their next steps after high school.
The month of October was packed with exploration and opportunity. Students kicked things off with Cooper Standard’s Manufacturing Day on October 3, where they received an inside look at the world of modern manufacturing through guided plant tours, industry discussions, and career-readiness sessions like mock interviews and job application workshops.

On October 9, students attended a College and Career Fair hosted at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where they connected with local employers, colleges, and training programs to learn more about the wide range of options available after graduation.

The learning continued with the BMW Fall Future Talent Festival on October 17, where students took part in robotics and STEM challenges, explored BMW’s student workforce program, and toured state-of-the-art facilities.

Rounding out the month, students visited SEW Eurodrive on October 24 to explore cutting-edge careers in engineering, robotics, and manufacturing. Each of these experiences helped students gain a deeper understanding of how their skills and interests can translate into future careers.

What’s to Come
Mrs. Jones continues to build strong partnerships that help prepare Vikings for life after high school. Up next, students will travel to Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC, on November 12, for a campus visit highlighting programs that align with their career goals.
And there’s even more on the horizon — stay tuned for details on an upcoming Career Fair, where students will have the chance to meet employers, explore apprenticeships, and discover post-graduation opportunities designed to help every Viking graduate with a plan and a purpose.
