We’re proud to share that Hayden Brewington, senior at SHS, was featured as the January cover for Belle Magazine!
Belle Magazine is an Upstate South Carolina–based publication that celebrates and tells the stories of the modern Southern woman, highlighting fashion, culture, leadership, and women making an impact locally and beyond. The magazine has been in print for over 20 years and is a favorite across the Upstate.
We connected with Hayden for a Q&A to learn more about her experience, what it’s like to be on the cover, and what inspires her as a student and a Viking:
How did it feel to be featured on the cover of the January issue of Belle magazine?
It was truly such an amazing experience and felt unreal! I loved getting the opportunity to work with such a well-respected magazine in Spartanburg. I am very thankful for Belle and all the people who made the issue possible.
What inspired you to get involved in this opportunity, and how did it come about?
I am part of a Senior Rep Team with Ashley Smith Photography. With her, we take pictures and model for her while getting the best senior pictures and meeting the best senior girls! Through her, I heard about this opportunity outside of the team with Belle and immediately I was on board!
What did you learn or gain from this experience?
I learned a lot about networking and meeting new people through this project. I aspire to become a reporter in the future, and with this career, a significant aspect is "who you know." Through this project, I have met many new contacts who could be beneficial to know in the future.
What are your plans after high school?
I plan to attend Coastal Carolina after high school and study journalism and sports media. This is in hopes to become a sports reporter/broadcaster!
Has this experience influenced your career or college goals in any way?
This experience has influenced me to put myself out there more in my career. You never know the possibilities and opportunities that are waiting for you until you decide to put yourself out there!
What advice would you give to other SHS students who want to pursue similar opportunities?
The advice I would give other SHS Students who want to pursue similar opportunities is take advantage of every opportunity that comes you way, even if sometimes it can be outside your comfort zone! Say yes and doors that you never even knew were available to you, will reveal themselves.
