Students in Dr. Howell and Dr. Gentry's Health Science program are preparing to compete at the HOSA – a student-led organization of Future Health Professionals State Leadership Conference, which will take place March 11–13 in Charleston. The annual State Leadership Conference, hosted by South Carolina HOSA, brings together students from across the state to showcase their knowledge, skills, and passion for health care careers.
The conference features a wide range of competitive events, allowing students to choose areas that align with their interests and career goals. Some events require students to complete written exams in various Health Science subjects prior to the conference. Those who score high enough advance to a second round of competition held on-site during the convention. Other events are completed at the conference.
This year, one team has chosen to compete in the Public Service Announcement (PSA) Video competition. The theme for this year’s PSA is Brain Health, challenging students to research, create, and produce an ;[[[;l,m impactful video that raises awareness on the topic.
The students behind the creation of this PSA include Evelynn Diaz, Leilani Martinez, Micayla Nunley, Sherley Escalante, and Lizbeth Ortiz. These dedicated students worked hard to research, plan, and produce their project.
In total, our students are entering nearly 20 different competitive events, demonstrating the strength and diversity of our Health Science program.
